2 Full time Physical Therapists (starting in summer 2018)

  • Full time position
  • Responsible for providing direct physical therapy services to students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments to improve function and mobility.
  • Structure intervention to meet goals and objectives of students’ IEP’s
  • Recommend and/or prescribe appropriate therapeutic exercises/activities to address soft tissue, joint and tone abnormalities, and to improve or increase functional or independent mobility
  • Perform evaluations to determine students’ impairments, functional limitations, and restrictions and make recommendations for goals and mandates as appropriate, attend IEP meetings as warranted
  • Provide parent consultation on an ongoing basis
  • Participate in team and departmental meetings and staff development days as required
  • Work as part of the educational team to implement IEP goals, behavior intervention programs, curriculum development, and parent relations
  • Assess and recommend adaptive mobility and/or positioning equipment and orthotics to improve posture, function, and mobility

1 Full time Occupational Therapist (starting in summer 2018)

  • Full time position
  • To provide direct occupational therapy services to students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments to improve sensory processing, attention, self-help skills, fine motor skills, perceptual motor skills, motor coordination, and instrumental activities of daily living and community skills.
  • Improve neuromuscular functioning including range of motion, muscle tone, strength, endurance, balance, and coordination
  • Improve sensory processing and sensory integration to maximize attention and participation in self-care and community activities
  • Administer therapeutic listening program
  • Assess and recommend adaptive equipment and orthotic devices as needed
  • Structure intervention to meet goals and objectives on students’ IEP’s
  • Work individually or in small groups with the focus on integrating all therapy into classroom settings and with other service providers
  • Promote independence in self-care and other critical skills through the use of compensatory strategies due to students’ vision loss and/or motor impairment
  • Perform evaluations and make recommendations for goals and mandates as appropriate, attending IEP meetings as warranted
  • Work as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and provide consultation to classroom staff and other related services providers, facilitating an integrated therapy approach

1 part time Curriculum Coordinator

  • Part-time position
  • Works collaboratively with teachers and administration to develop and maintain an educational program that meets the needs of all students
  • Design and implement a school-based system of assessment which includes data gathering
  • Work with each classroom teacher/team to ensure appropriate curriculum and materials are available for students’ instructional needs
  • Observe classroom instruction to encourage, guide, and support teachers in using the curricula; modeling lessons as appropriate
  • Assist staff in adapting age appropriate General Education curricula to the learning needs of students
  • Assist in the planning and coordinating of staff development programs
