Special Education Teacher - R.E.A.C.H. Classroom

Lavelle School for the Blind has an opening for a Special Education teacher in a R.E.A.C.H. classroom. Teachers in a R.E.A.C.H. classroom are responsible for instructing students with visual impairments and additional disabilities in special education content areas as well as common core areas, such as ELA, Braille, Math, Science, Social Studies, Technology, ADLs, etc.). They positively motivate students to develop appropriate skills, attitudes, and knowledge. Teachers in a R.E.A.C.H. classroom utilize a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ abilities, creating a safe and orderly learning environment.

The Preschool Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and providing a developmentally appropriate preschool program, positively motivating students to develop appropriate skills, attitudes, and knowledge. The Preschool Classroom Teacher utilizes a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ abilities, creating a safe and orderly learning environment.

Behavior Specialist

Lavelle School for the Blind has an opening for a Behavior Specialist to work with students ages 3 to 21 with emotional disabilities, sensory challenges, and/or impaired communication and social interactions. The behavior specialist will provide behavior support services based on student needs. The behavior specialist will complete Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans and work closely with classroom staff and other related services personnel to implement and track progress on the Behavior Intervention Plans.
