Lavelle School for the Blind offers a wide range of employment opportunities for qualified applicants. Our staff is creative, caring, compassionate, and competent. The school has well-equipped, spacious classrooms and treatment areas. We are fortunate to have 3 large outdoor playgrounds since the school occupies an entire city block in the Northeast Bronx. We maintain an on-going file for qualified program personnel in the following areas:

	Classroom teachers with New York State Education Department certification as teacher of the blind and visually impaired (full time and substitutes). Teacher applicants for the preschool program also need N-6 certification.
	Teaching assistants and teachers’ aides with bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred
	Physical and occupational therapists and assistants
	Orientation and mobility specialists
	Job coaches
	Social workers
	Nurse substitutes
	Speech and language therapists with bilingual Spanish/English extension preferred
	Adaptive physical education teachers
	Music and art teachers
	Psychologists and education evaluators on a contract basis only.
